how to eat SUMAN.

since i ate breakfast this morning (which i rarely do), i decided to document it. hehe... this is how you eat suman, pinoy style... hrmm or my style. LOL.

1. you don't want your food to get infected with microorganisms... so, wash your hand first.

2. prepare your 'equipment': Coffee/ chocolate; bowl; suman. (since i'm allergic to chocolate, i used coffee with cream and sugar)

3. peel the suman.

4. place the peeled suman in a bowl.

5. drop 3 tbsp of hot coffee on the bowl with suman

6. crush the suman with a spoon

7. EAT

8. ENJOY!

it's nothing like last year's Christmas. it was quieter, simpler... Family went to CPK to have christmas dinner. had a simple gift giving... we didn't wait for 12mn since the mall closes at 9:00pm. nevertheless, dinner was great as always... :D i just miss the presence of my nephew, miggy. kuya mitch, che and miggy flew off to europe to spend christmas with che's family.

had our school christmas party. it wasn't as loud and happy as last year for some reason. maybe it's because we were transferred to another group. we were the only one who performed a song number. elk... i ate my heart out anyway... and i had a great gift. hehe. Thanks, thalline! :) went swimming, too... the pool was waaaarmmm!!! i swam til 2am... had an asthma attack after that.. salamat sa hamog! LOL. it was good.

went to sta. cruz to spend the rest of the christmas day with Lola Estay and the rest of the odejar clan... wow... i ate a lot last night! played with my niece and nephew. hehe..

i seem to have problems with gathering up my motivation to DO something. tsk... i've been telling myself to study for the board exam and take one step at a time... but until now, it feels like i haven't even lifted a pinkie for it (i read a few stuff but in an unorganized way) ... tsk tsk... i want to start so badly but i don't know where and how to... i just get frustrated.. i end up sleeping not accomplishing ANYTHING... grrrhhh.. gotta move it!

Panaginip: i dreamt last night about riding an airplane and arriving at an airport with open gun fires and people shouting... 2 friends of mine were in that dream with me. we traveled (can't remember details of it). i remember a scene where i was in a bus with them. it was raining. they said good bye and left me there in the bus. there was this scene where i was told i had to go home... i was about to take a bus ride going home and realized i wasn't in the Philippines! i was in some asian country, Vietnam, perharps... then .. i woke up..

@School: hrmmm... yesterday, i was assigned to take care of a tachypnic baby at NICU. he was crying very loudly, very angrily that his neighbor seemed to empathize with him.. both of them crying at the same time. ugh..

poor baby. i bet he was really, really hungry. or maybe he was feeling pain. tsk... it's as if he wanted to kick someone's ass. geez.

girls' night

Aiza, the Llanto sisters, ate Aimee and Leslie were arguing when and where they'll watch that New Moon movie. haha. i was not participating as usual, since i'm so not into it. i haven't made up my mind yet if i'd watch it with them. haha. i might, just for the company.

We arrived at the coffee shop at 5pm. we were able to find a good table with a nice view. Too bad Kaye was not there.

It was a fun bonding. these people i was with were at their mid 20's and, haha, they're still rowdy. I especially enjoyed our talk about the gory experiences in the OR and medical boohoos. i'm sure the other table could hear us. sorry for those who heard. they might have lost their appetite. haha!

it was educational, too, though.

back to school

we are, once again, assigned in the operating room. :) i hope they would keep assigning us there. i assisted in a minor operation. hrmm.. it was just a simple excisions biopsy.

i miss my groupmates. sir deris, sir weejay and sir jek were talking about naughty stuff and i imagined, if ate rizza, ate aimee and the boys were there, it would ba riot! i'm sure, hihirit nanaman ng kakaiba yung mga yun.

we'll get used to our new groupmates. they're ok.

Eastwood with family

had a nice lunch at Eastwood city at our cousins' condo. my tita cooked the viand... errr... i forgot what it was called. pork afritada, i think. it's not salty but very tasty.

played with my nephew, miggy boy, again. he's sooo cute! i think he has grown a little bit from the time i saw him last.

went mass too... i thought of blogging about the sermon; but i my head is quite unorganized right now.

"may uod ang aking utak"

i watched a ballet performance yesterday called "tales of the manuvu". i didn't read about what a manuvu is. i had no background of what i was watching. but i still enjoyed. Ballet philippines did an amazing job, as always! :)

i think the story was about the creation of man and woman, like "adam and eve" or "malakas at si maganda". i'm going to read about it later.

i was 20 minutes late. hrmph. badtrip! i missed the 1st half of the "front act"...but at least i was able to watch the rest of the show. it was beautiful!

after the show, connie, dianna and I fought our way in the crowd to have our pictures taken with the performers! they were nice too. :)

so far so good.

i had my hair chopped off! while the hair stylist was doing his thing, i wanted to scream and shout, "STOP!" but, well.... it was done... it'll grow back...

for the past few days, i have been spending my vacation pretty well. i'm trying to stay away from the computer as much as possible since it'll take up my precious free time. hahaha. ok so, what have i been doing?

the amusement park: last Sunday, my friends and i went to Enchanted Kingdom. i've been there a couple of times with different sets of friends/ family. yep. it was fun! unfortunately, all the rides were not available. thank goodness, the space shuttle (the big roller coaster) was closed. i'm sure, they'd force me to ride it if it was open.

italian film trip: haha! i love watching free films at the mall. :D watching it made me learn more about the italian lifestyle/culture. their language sounds like spanish.

food trip: going to the mall entails eating in nice places. since i'm on vacation, what the heck, i'd eat my heart out! frozen yogurts are a hit, i noticed. i tried them with strawberry, mangoes and almond chips. WOW! it was sooo nice! i loooove the tangy flavor and the sweetness of the fruits. :). i also particularly enjoyed the beef salipicado with mushrooms @ oliver's sandwich. it's a sandwich store like subway, but they also sell rice meals. nice nice! TORTILLAS w/ cheese, mayonnaise and ground beef ----> a very good companion while falling in line for the movie. haha.

sound trip: i have been listening to all sorts of music now. i try to explore a wide array of sounds, not just world beat. :)

meeting up old friends and getting to know new ones. :) it was fun spending time with my schoolmates and friends @ EK. Frankie and i watched an italian film the other day. he's like my movie and artsy fartsy buddy. missed hanging out with him. had a great time! We also met Sophia, a new friend we met while falling in line for the italian movie. :) she taught us stuff about being online using the cellphone. interesting! haha. i'm not really a techie person. it's nice to talk to someone like her. Burn, a friend and a bandmate (back in the days of BP.LOL) is currently online all the time. so i get to talk to him a lot. i missed talking to him too. he's a very funny guy. i wish to talk with the other BP boys. i'm looking forward to meeting more and more friends before i hit the books again. :)

the fantastic 4: i couldn't help myself from listening to the 4 women in their mid-30's talking about their lives. one of them was talking about her married life, i think, dealing with her husband about having a baby after 3 years... while sitting at the other table, eating my frozen yogurt, i imagine myself, ert, ayi and mygz talking the same thing or anything under the sun, looking all grown up like them.. (i mean looking mid-30ish)... gosh, i miss them! i miss the girl bonding. i wish them well. :)

Family: tita turing called up yesterday. it was nice talking to her and knowing how she is. later, i'm going to sta cruz to visit my Lola estay. :) on sunday, ate and i will be having lunch with tita tessie and family. :)

UPCOMING: i opt to watch tales of the manuvu, a ballet which will be performed by the ballet philippines. i have not watched performances for a while. :) i don't want to get too excited. hehe. there are other stuff i wanted to do like surfing in zambales or go to the zoo and do photoshooting; but i dunno if they're doable. not much time left. hrmph.

p.s. yesterday, i bought a new garment, a casual dress. hehe! :)

another typhoon coming

i've been talking about typhoons all the time in my blog... they say, this one called PEPENG is a super typhoon (as big as Katrina hurricane). i wish it would go away... arggh...

today, we didn't have formal classes. rather we had a skills fair for the nursing week. it was pretty interesting. i was assigned to do the IV therapy -piggyback administration of meds. haha... why is it piggyback? it's a pretty funny word. hahaha...

birthdays and typhoons

how come i'm having a hard time thinking of what to type here. when i was on my way back home, i told myself, "yes, i have things to share here!!!"... now, im quite clueless... or maybe im just too sleepy and hungry to write something...

anyway i'll try...

i mentioned on my previous entry that ate aimee, kaye and i went to the municipal hall to find out if they are in need of volunteers to help out the evacuation. they referred us to the old city health center to inquire... and so we did early today.

aside from the 3 of us, i didn't expect other classmates to come... thalline, aiza, glen, czy, maye and leslie joined us in our 'medical mission'. haha... i felt good because it was not a school activity and we did not feel obligated to do what we have done... it's a good feeling that you have contributed to the welfare of other people... comparing to my classmates in assumption, cdc people seem to be aware of what's happening around us. they're not apathetic at all.. well, mostly. they're good candidates for MARIAS.. hehe... i miss my group in AC.....

what did we do? we took vital signs of people and took information re: their condition in the evac area. we found out that there are a lot of children having GI problems particularly defecating with fresh blood. there were some who have eye infection. the elderly mostly has high BP. tsk tsk... People who needed medical attention were referred to the health center. there wasn't even a doctor in there. just a mid wife...

when we left the center, we headed to ate aimee's house and just chilled. :) i let them watch the short film that really made my day. :)

this short film really made me stop and just watch. it has this 'aaaaaaaawwww' factor. i felt the corners of my mouth stretch with delight. oh, i'm such a sucker for sweet stuff. LOL.

"i'm not gonna walk that far... hahaha... anymore." and i said, "anymore?" he replied, "yes"... and mentioned some crap about liking a girl who keeps pushing him away... i really hate riddles.. i asked, "are you talking about me?" he said, "what made you think i was talking about you?".. i said, "why? is it bad to assume?" agggh... i'm getting a headache with these conversations... LOL... affected... now, i know if someone is for real or not... i think... not sure.. there you go... my head hurts again.

Ondoy came at my birthday eve and people suffered from the flood.got a bit worried since family and friends are in manila were the calamity happened... sucks... but i was happy... not the melancholy that overwhelmed me on my past bdays...

ONDOY

i didn't realize that the typhoon was that bad. yes, the lights went out for a little while but didn't feel like it was that 'BAD'. i was cooped up in my room and just listened to the angry drops of the rain and whips of the strong wind. i even fell asleep. i thought, 'mas grabe pa ang milenyo dito no, bat naman kailangan isuspend ang klase!'... inspite of the typhoon, i was willing to have my duty at the hospital so that i can finally do my case study. get it done and over with... oh well.

after the aftermath, i opened my facebook and saw the shout outs of my FB friends... the videos of the flood, the prayer requests...devastating! some people are even lost. wow... i was comfortable at my little cozy home, yet people were (and still are) suffering at their roofs, waiting for rescue teams.... geez... i just heard that my very pregnant cousin is still at the top of her house without food and extra clothing.. tsk tsk... my aunt said she has someone with her.. so that's quite comforting... but still, kinda worried...

my aunt and uncle in manila is still not replying with our text... also a friend from cainta...

the situation is quite depressing... this calamity is happening before my eyes, and i can't do anything about it! i have a redcross certificate.... sayang naman if i won't use it... ate aimee YMed me, and told me her idea of helping out... i'm gona wait wait for their text...

well, i really want to help out... i mean that would be a great birthday gift for myself tomorrow... i just don't know how... it's easier in AC. i had MARIAS...

our duty has been cancelled today due to a typhoon... tsk tsk.... this means i should get started with my case study... but... i cant start with it. i know nothing of patient's laboratory results.. they're just about to get it. hrmmm anyway, it's good that i was able to interview the patient... so maybe i'll start with that.
