LATE POSTS

Late post: saturday (duty in OR)
- it was so unsual to have soooooo many operations in one day! everyone (staff nurses, nursing aides, students, doctors, everyone!) was so busy, running around, preparing patient after patient. sooo, we had 2 ORIFs, 3 CS, 1 NSD, 1 D&C and a closing of an appendectomy... there were 4 cord care cases since 1 CS patient had twins! :)

- thing was, i was kinda sick that day. so my Clinical instructor didn't order me around. she assigned me in the recovery room, which sucked, since i really want to do a cord care case. :( but of course, i had to think of the babies' welfare.. see, babies are high risk for any disease... i had an asthma attack 2 days prior the the busy day, and still i was recovering from it. i got pretty bored in RR... so i asked my clinical instructor to assign me to a minor case (appendectomy). still, it was not a biggy. hrmph... i didn't even feel tired.

- by the way, i monitored the VS of a patient who just undergone a shoulder surgery... it wass my job to wake him up from time to time. there were 3 IV lines attached to him: D5 water with tramdol (f0r pain), 10 gtts/min, D5 LR @KVO and another yellow IV med (forgot what it was, antibiotics i guess). i saw the yellow IV med empty and the tramadol leaking. so, i fixed it. while i was removing the tramadol to change the line, the patient woke up and and cried so loudly as he felt the gnawing pain of the post-surgery. gosh, i got a little rattled with that! i thought it was the removal of the tramdol on his Y-tube, but my CI doubted it since, it was not removed long enough. however, i think it was still a factor. eventually, the nurse in charge contacted the doctor and was ordered to give another dose of tramadol with an IV push.... the patient went back to his peaceful slumber... whew!

Sunday- Lunch at tita Tess'
-ok.. so i also missed lunch at tita tess'. had to stay home for a faster recovery. i didn't feel sick anymore though. i just felt i needed more rest. hrmmph. i miss my nephew. didn't see him.

slept the whole day today. :) i dremnt of something i cannot remember.
------------------------------
then when i woke up, i watched 3 consecutive movies: premonition, Ironman and indescent proposal...

toxic

needed a chill pill (go figure how to read this)

haaaaay!!!! since i cant tell them, i'll just tell the world.
before i say something, i'm glad that our case study turned out fine. there were flaws but over all, it was a good case presentation... but the process of making it... geez...

i really dislike doing SCHOOL WORK with my groupmates. parang ang gulo gulo nilang lahat! at ayoko talaga mag cramming... yesterday was chaos! we had a week to finish everything and i told them to send me their part of the work so that i can consolidate everything and edit so that on the meeting, we could talk and do some minor revisions. well, guess what? they (not all) didn't send me anything prior to our meeting. so everyone was panicking. stressful!

there were unevitable technical glitches. Like T, who tried to send her 'anatomy', but was not able to, that's ok. L, who did the interviewing, should've interviewed the patient a long time ago! He should have sent the biographical data, etc earlier... and of course, A, who always hates doing the work, attempted to just manipulate the answers... haaay nakakapanginit talaga ng ulo.

i also hate it when a person whom you're trying to talk to, wouldn't answer. you know she heard you but won't reply. you don't know if she's doing it on purpose or what. it's really annoying. parang BASTOS lang.

and when you need positive energy, na-ah, you won't get it from our group! nakakahawa ang negative energy!

if you do an open forum with them, nako, i bet they will hear you but they won't listen.. it's frustrating..

i'm not all perfect. i have flaws on my own and maybe they hate me for it. i know i need to be more patient, to be less judgemental...

don't sweat on the small stuff... what it the small stuff balls up to something big? aba, i might sweat too much! diaphoresis! baka magkaron ako ng fluid and electrolyte imbalance.

anyway....

i'm just used to working alone or with a small group. dami kasi namin.

maybe, this is the reason why you can't be business partners with friends... you like them as friends but you can't work together. buti nalang we don't work together all the time. la lang naisip ko lang.

i don't hate my groupmates ok... just hate the attitude.

what did i do today? nothing much, actually. read the GI System on my book for next week's class. i have to catch up on a lot of things. aside from school requirements, i should be starting on studying for the board exams. i don't know where to start. Lara Larua, started with anatomy. i might as well start with that too..

Dean Alpay will be our Clinical Instructor tomorrow. so that means we will be assigned @ the 3rd floor. geez. the nurse from h--- might be on duty. sucks.

Love Phobia, SLH 2-week duty, my sister's arrival

Pramis, last na to!

ert, mygz, ayi and i attended a script writing workshop before (waaaay back 2004?). each of us were assigned to make a script regarding AIDS/HIV... hrmm.. can't remember what i've written... but what i remember is that my mentor said that my script has a potential.. haha...

After watching "Love Phobia", (korean movie), i asked my self, 'why didn't i think of a dramatic love story? and it soooo fit the theme. it could have been great! geez'.

the film was moving. sad in fact. but, didn't feel tears welling up or tightness on the throat... maybe because of the cheezy ending + the slow internet (since AVG started scanning my pc). Nevertheless, i love the twist at the middle of the story. i want to say more, but you might want to watch it. so i won't blog too much details. hehe...

Guess who's who :)
my groupmates have been bugging me to upload our pictures from our duty in San Lozaro Hospital. i have already uploaded 2 folders. hooray! ang daming pictures. nakakaumay! we've stayed there for 2 weeks. i can say i'll miss the whole thing... the travelling, the experience, the clinical instructors, the hospitals, the laughter... (well, my groupmates and i, we laugh all the time. but it's different when we travel far away from home base)... it's our last affiliation. *saaad*

Admiring the works

Chito Vecina was the first professional wedding photographer i've ever seen working in person... he, along with his team, was the one who took photographs of my cousin's wedding. I really admire his work. i mean, he made people look happy in pictures, he takes really nice candid shots. its as if you can almost feel the emotion of the person on the photo..
